In its 7th round, this virtual scholarship initiative by the Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens (BKMC) aims to empower young African change-makers aged 20-35 who are committed to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The GC Scholarship offers a unique platform for 17 selected scholars from Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Ethiopia, and Kenya. Participants will engage in a fully virtual program, including a summer school, peer-to-peer mentoring, and expert training on specific topics, enabling them to propose and implement a localized SDG Micro-Project in their communities.
Eligibility criteria include:
- African youth aged 20-35, regardless of race, gender, or sexual orientation
- Citizenship in Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Ethiopia, or Kenya
- Completion of at least a Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Strong dedication to SDGs and global citizenship ideals
- Minimum English level B2 (European Standards)
Selected scholars will benefit from an 8-9 month program, enhancing their skills on Agenda 2030, sustainable development entrepreneurship, and building professional networks. Additional perks include full coverage for a one-week Summer School training with MCI Innsbruck, expert workshops, peer mentoring, and a $500 seed funding for the implementation of their SDG Micro-Project.
